(prHWY.com) August 6, 2012 - Brooklyn, AL -- A belief that she could not do any better in school led Tanya Knight to have poor grades. Until she graduated from high school, that is.

That's when the Brooklyn, NY, native realized something. She could do it. In fact, she decided she would do it.

"The only person holding me back was me. Once I got that idea across to myself, I excelled. I decided if I could hold myself back, then I could also push myself forward," she said. "I pushed. I received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and Management from Columbia College."

Her degree was online, which some people may disparage.

"I don't listen to what other people say. The simple fact is I got a college education. Beyond that, I have taken this eduction and used it to launch myself in bigger, better and more important things," she said.

At present, she's pursuing a doctorate in the Education Leadership with a focus on Retenetion from Grand Canyon University. She obtained and MBA in Leadership from the same school.

She said she is living proof that an education will take a person anywhere they want to go. Since graduating from Columbia, she said she has gone places, seen things and met people which her yonder self would have believed impossible.
