(prHWY.com) August 22, 2012 - london, United Kingdom -- In modern times we live in an industrialised world. Machines, man's creations, have somewhat invaded our lives and we grew to depend on them, even in the simplest tasks. It is hard to imagine how things would be without them. And we all face a glimpse of that possibility with every blackout. Even then most of us face the dark with flashlights, rather than candles. But, in the end the evolution of technology is to humanity's benefit, work becomes easier and more products are produced faster. We are all eager consumers, and buy often times more than we really need. However, man and machine can work together to achieve some delicate and intricate pieces of product. A good example is cnc machining, where machines, technology and humans all cooperate to achieve their goal. One of the most frequently used procedures in this family is cnc milling. Operating the machinery involved in these actions is quite dangerous, so only experts should tend to it, or under strict supervision.
Firstly, let us see what takes place in cnc machining. These machines are assisted by a computer program. For starters, a 3D model of the piece ready to be operated, is constructed by the designer and sent to the programmer through an interconnected system. Therefore, more than one person is involved, and everything depends on everything else, if something goes wrong at one stage, it will show on the final product. However, quality control will pick it up, so faulty pieces won't be sent out the doors of the facility. Returning to cnc machining, the programmer after he received the 3D model, selects from it the surfaces which need to be processed. The computer converts these surfaces in a program which is transmitted to the equipment. The worker positions the piece of material in the machinery and chooses the tool considered appropriate for this occasion and fixes it on the machine. Furthermore, he maneuvers the equipment in such a manner as to coincide with the coordinates given by the computer program. These coordinates are shown on a screen of the machinery. A rotation speed is selected then the start button is pressed. The machine starts and executes the "order". When it is finished, the stop button is pressed and the piece of material removed.
Secondly, cnc millingis a type of machine that can execute mills and gaps. The piece of material is fixed on the table of the milling equipment. The table can have wheels and moves from left to right and the part with the mill forward and backward. There are different types of such procedures. The 5 Axis Milling for instance, is similar to the above mentioned machinery, but the difference is that the mill part of it can rotate perpendicularly on the surface of the machine's table.
In conclusion, cnc machining are extremely complex procedures where a trio formed of man, machinery and technology must cooperate in order to successfully complete a task. There a number of different activities, like cnc turning or cnc milling, all equally thrilling and dangerous. However, the companies are formed out of an expert staff which creates true masterpieces.
