Unconventional Acne Treatment Could Lead to Mountain Expeditions to Treat Severe Acne

(prHWY.com) August 22, 2012 - Seattle, WA -- Spending a week in the cold, chilly forest in the foothills of the mountains in Washington might not sound like an ideal trip, unless there is an added benefit in it for someone. A young scientist may have discovered a connection between wilderness trips to the mountains and acne treatments.
"It sounds weird that a trip to this forested area would be able to help you treat acne but I really think it works", said John Johnson, a scientist for
Natural Cosmetics in Everett, Washington.
John Johnson was on a recent camping trip that involved a seven day stay in the foothills of Mount Rainier. He was on the trip with three friends, one of whom was suffering from extreme acne breakouts. When the group returned from their trip someone commented on the guy's clear skin.
"We were all amazed that his skin just cleared up like that", said Johnson. "This is a guy who has tried every pill, cream, lotion and gel out there to treat his acne, and here all it took was a stay in the wilderness to treat it? That is totally amazing."
John Johnson is working closely with his friend to recreate what exactly the guy engaged in while on his trip. They are trying to discover if it was something in the air that may have treated the acne or if his travel companion did something that may have cleared it up.
"I am unsure if it was just the fact that we were out in the wilderness that treated the acne or if he may have done something that may have cured it", said Johnson. "I am having him detail everything he did, everything he ate or touched while on the trip to see if I can find an answer."
John Johnson hopes that by finding a natural acne treatment he could be able to cure teenagers and adults who suffer from acne that is resistant to treatments that are found in stores and pharmacies. At the moment, tests suggest that the cooler mountain air combined with the atmosphere created by pine trees may have had something to do with the treatment of the acne. However, Johnson is not 100% sure.
"I am envisioning holding acne treatment camps all over the United States", said Johnson. "If it is the mountain air that is treating the condition I plan on holding and hosting these types of retreats. We could have hundreds of people gathering in an effort to treat their acne in a fun and exciting way."
