(prHWY.com) August 28, 2012 - Dunstall, Burton upon Trent, United Kingdom -- United Kingdom, 28th Aug 2012 - Phil Poulter, a Derbyshire business adviser had taken a wow to conquer the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro to show support for people suffering from Pancreatic Cancer. With the expert guidance and support of Team Private Kilimanjaro, he has successfully completed his oath and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.
Private Kilimanjaro strives to provide the safest most enjoyable Kilimanjaro experience possible. Since the year 2004 they have been organising successful expeditions to Mount Kilimanjaro to teh utmost satisfaction of their clients. Their treks are organised and managed by some of the most experienced climbers in the region. Their hand-picked guides ensure that their clients get the very best leadership on the mountain.
Commenting on his achievement Phil said "Our charity fund-raising target was £500, but we have already raised over £1200, which I am really delighted with. Pancreatic cancer is something which can be overlooked, so that's why I wanted to raise money for this worthy cause after my mother-in-law passed away. Each year over 8,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It is the fifth most common cause of cancer death and unfortunately it has the lowest survival rate of all cancers - just 3% of those diagnosed survive for 5 years. It is also the only cancer that has seen no improvement in this figure over the last 40 years, so you can see why I wanted to raise awareness for the charity."
Determined to succeed, the 55-year-old not only gave up smoking after 40 years, but also undertook some heavy training to make his expedition successful. He signed up for the "climb Kilimanjaro charity challenge" in aid of the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund after his wife's mother, Brenda, sadly lost her battle with the disease in January 2011.
Jane Deakin, Managing Director of Private Kilimanjaro commented "Phil and his friends followed in the footsteps of many climbers we have helped climb Kilimanjaro raising much needed funds for worthwhile charities such as PCRF.org. We have been very impressed by their efforts to raise awareness of these charities. You can find out more or simply donate online via www.justgiving.com/Phil-Poulter-PCRF."
