One of the biggest ghazal albums of the year, 'Hasrat' was launched amidst much fanfare by the tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain at J W Marriot at an glittering event in Mumbai.

Ustad Zakir Hussain did the honours of launching the album. Siddharth Kannan who features in the video was also present.
Commenting on the album, Ustad Zakir Hussain said that music was not the domain of musicians alone and that music had a universal appeal which attracts people from all walks of life. Ghazal king Jagjit Singh on a similar note said that this album was indeed different with music for the soul in contrast to the modern day's commercial music, which is laced with vulgarity. Ace singer, Hariharan who has a few numbers in the album also affirmed that there are ghazal audiences in sizeable numbers.
