In hopes of making the roads safer for everyone, one Australian company is stepping up to offer devices that make it safer to get behind the wheel.

Drive Logic is selling "products that save lives."

"We are passionate about making Australia's road safety. We are the only Australian company currently solely focused on road and driver safety," said company President Dan Chambers. "If we sell something that prevents one life from being taken in a motor vehicle accident, then we have made a difference. We hope many more people avoid serious accidents, but knowing one person is safe still means much."

The company offers items like dash cameras which record what happens on the road. In case of an accident, this video can prove who is at fault and what actually happened. Some models come with night vision capabilities.

Hand held breathalyzers will tell someone if they are above the legal limit for blood alcohol concentration.

"This device is not a substitute for common sense, if you decide to drink, we recommend you do not get behind the wheel. A designated driver is always the best option. But if you have to drive, this device is an accurate gauge of where you are on the blood alcohol scale."

One popular item especially for truckers is the anti-sleep alarm. Clipped over an ear, this very lightweight device issues a piercing alarm if the driver's head tilts beyond a certain point. It's also useful for anyone who has had a busy day and a fair drive home.

Drive Logic also sells handsfree devices to work with mobile phones. Keep your eyes on the road, not on the phone with these in-car speakers and Bluetooth devices.

The company offers items that keep drivers from the minor fender benders that can happen in parking lots, the driveway or anywhere else quarters are tight. Back up cameras not only tell a driver what's behind him, but they can guide the bumper hitch to the trailer mount easily.

"We're interested in keeping drivers safe," Mr. Chambers said. "Our products are designed with drivers in mind. When we got a look at the injury and fatality statistics for Australia, we decided we had to do something. However we know that high road fatalities is an issue that stretches far beyond Australian roads, for this reason we ship our products internationally."

The statistics are gripping.

On average, four people are killed and 80 are seriously injured every day on Australia's roads. Almost everyone has at some stage been affected by a road crash

The annual national road toll accounts for around 1500 deaths and over 30,000 serious injuries on our roads each year, costing an estimated $27bn annually

Car accidents are responsible for over 60% of deaths among Australian 17-20 year olds
