Golf Carts Feature Flatscreens With Quadrophonic Sound

(prHWY.com) September 5, 2012 - Seattle, WA -- A new company called Fairway Rocks has announced it raised the necessary $225 million in venture capital to launch a line of golf carts that double as home entertainment systems.

"As country clubs and premiere golf courses grow in acreage, weekend hackers find they want to take more breaks in play to view a music video or even take their mind off a bad game with a blockbuster film," CEO Marvin Fillups told reporters from MSNBC and The Sports Network.

The company's initial line of golf carts will include a flatscreen that folds out of the trunk to a full size of four by six feet ... a Surround Sound system that can expand to either four or eight Dolby Digital speakers ... a freezer compartment that can hold up to 3 suitcases of brews (or a pony keg) ... and a miniature hibachi grill for barbecuing. Of course it goes without saying that a separate cooler compartment can hold enough raw meat and vegetables to feed a party of ten.

"This is what serious party golfers have been waiting for all our lives," said Jason Gilligan, president of the Hash House Hackers, a golf-playing offshoot of the well-known social running and drinking clubs that operate worldwide. "You were always at a loss for something to do when a bunch of serious golfers came whacking up the fairway and demanded to play through."

Now the owner of a deluxe golf cart and entertainment center can just steer the vehicle slightly off the trail to make way, pop in a DVD or boot up the wireless Internet, and pop a cold one while watching "Transformers" or old episodes of "Baywatch."

Asked whether there were any disadvantages to owning his product, Fillups said they're so enjoyable and comfy that golfers have been known to forget the time and after hours have gone by, suddenly realize everybody else has gone home and the course is shutting down. "There's been a few times I've had to drive my Easy Life golf cart all the way home from the course after dark," he said. "Good thing they get excellent gas mileage."

Gilligan said Fairway Rocks golf carts are so comfortable, and replete with all the amenities, that several of his friends just drive their vehicle around the house to the backyard and enjoy movies and live concerts off cable feed and the Internet without even bothering to haul out and swing their nine irons, woods, and putters.

"When you come right down to it, golf never anything more than an excuse for many of us to head to the nineteenth hole, anyway," he said. "Now we can do it wherever we like, and in style!"
