Do you remember the last time, you got trapped in a stuck elevator or the time when you wanted to go out of your house but couldn't because the person you wanted to avoid the most is standing right outside your alleyway. Remember how those 5-10 minutes felt, the agony of being confined in a limited space for no fault of yours. Yeah....you remember that..... very scary....right?... I have been living it everyday......24 X 7.....for more than last 10 years.
I am Vikas Yadav. You know me well thanks to the MEDIA. So much has been written and told about me in the past years without any mercy. All you have known about me has been told to you by the media through its various forms, such as print as well as electronic sources. I have been made an scapegoat. The media had to put responsibility on somebody, and I was chosen very kindly. They felt free to say that because someone was thin, they were anorexic which is ridiculous. Trying to determine what is going on in the world by reading newspapers is like trying to tell the time by watching the second hand of a clock.
You obviously want to know the truth. You deserve to know the truth. Let me tell you what the real truth is if you give me a moment of your time.
After remaining silent for more than ten years, being made to suffer unendingly due to the one sided vicious campaign that has been created for the Media, through the Media and by the means and resources of electronic media, it's time for every citizen of the country who has taken interest in this matter to be informed of the story from my side too.
Whatsoever, you have heard about me and my family has been told to you by some people totally unknown to you and who all are working on a single point agenda, which is to defame and malign our reputation in the society. There is not even an iota of truth in their information. The very sole purpose of their existence is to carry out a smearing and slandering attack on me and my family with the sole objective of keeping me incarcerated.

I have been portrayed as a villain by the media and various people having their selfish interests in my prolonged suffering. At this stage, I cannot talk put forth the merits of my case or discuss evidence which clearly proves me innocent beyond any doubt whatsoever, because the matter is sub-judice being pending before the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi.
With any high profile case, the media plays a significant part in shaping public opinion often in a way that is beneficial for neither the accused nor the victim. Every sensational report has a significant effect on everyone involved including witnesses and the beliefs of a victim of an incident. I use the word incident deliberately since the manner in which cases are portrayed infer that a crime has been committed often before it has been established before a court of law. We live in a country where we have freedom of speech and are in many ways lucky that it is the case, however with regard to how various areas of the media report items which they rightly have freedom to do, greater control is needed to ensure that an article's contents don't unfairly prejudice a person's future. As things stand at the moment the press are entitled to take a quote of just a few words and print them with no regard as to how doing so will affect the lives of innocent people in the future. I strongly feel, and many agree, that not only should the quote be accurate as is the present limitations on any submissions, but there should be greater regulation as to how much content precedes and follows the quote to maintain an even and unbiased perspective.
I have not been given a chance to tell anyone my side of the story or answer the questions which all of you must have in your minds. All information that you have received has been biased, embellished with lies and completely negative about me and my family on every front and it is evident that the media has been used as a weapon to taint my image before one and all. One thing which I can assure you is that I am not a Criminal and God-Willing, I will come out clean in respect of every allegation that has been leveled against me. I have the utmost respect and faith in the judicial system of our country which according to me is one of the best in the world.
Media plays a very big role in influencing the mind of people even before the Judiciary is able to give an unbiased verdict. When only one side of the story is reiterated before the masses over and over again, it definitely has a huge impact on everyone's mind and psyche. I have been the victim of this malicious and stereotyped media campaign for the past 10 years of my life which by no means is a small amount of time.
It makes me wonder that why should I be a victim of such spiteful conspirators who have used the media to their advantage in order to influence the minds and hearts of thousands of influential people of the society and the general public alike by making them see things as per their wicked plans rather than how the things actually were in reality. I am also surprised and anguished on seeing the society being influenced by such people who live and thrive on fraud and deceit for their bread and butter. I am only asking everyone who has interest in this case to give me a fair chance just like you would have got if you were ever put in any situation which demanded people to judge you.
