Microscope-how and why

(prHWY.com) October 1, 2012 - Los Angeles, AZ -- For using a microscope all you have to do is to prepare a slide to study under the microscope beforehand. So the first lesson for you to begin working with a well known instrument microscope is to prepare the first slide.

Specimen Preparation
1. Sectioning: specimens are covered in wax and then cut into thin sections. Sectioning prevents damage to the structure of the specimen whilst cutting it, especially when cutting soft tissue.

2. Staining: Although you can view some specimens under the microscope without any preparation, a lot of biological matter is transparent which makes it extremely hard to see in any detail, even under a microscope. In order to see these you must use coloured stains that contain chemicals that bind to the chemicals that are found on the specimen you are trying to view - this allows them to be seen under the microscope. Some stains bind to specific parts of the cell.
Just go like that and the microscope will give you the minute detail of the specimen prepared.

Know we will go over the brief history of the optical microscope. The first optical microscopes were structured in a way that is called "the simple microscope". This structure utilizes only one pair of lenses to create a magnified image of the sample. Today, the simple structure is in use only in the magnifying glass, hand lens and the loupe.

The more advances optical microscopes, and the ones that are popular today, are what's called "compound optical microscopes". These microscopes use a system of many lenses, in order to "compound" and multiply the magnification, and therefore maximize it. The two main lens systems in an optical microscope are the objective lens (near the examined object), and the eyepiece lens (up near the eye of the scientist). Modern optical microscopes use multiple lenses both in the objective part as well as the eyepiece part.

The old optical microscopes also used a mirror to provide illumination below the object. The modern optical microscopes use a strong lamp to provide constant and strong illumination.

So, after having a look over how to use microscope and also their background and the history know comes the purpose for which the microscopes are used ranging from examining small pieces of material, or even a smear or a squash preparation. Also in the neighborhood clinics where you have last examined you blood sample there also microscopes are used. Not only are this purpose microscope also used for many other purposes.
