(prHWY.com) October 3, 2012 - Noida, India -- AICTE CMAT September 2012 exam, the first entrance test for the 2013-15 session, began on September 27 and continued till October 1. This article shares the expert analysis of the exam and experience of test takers.

According to Niraj Prasad, MBA expert at Career Launcher, "The pattern and composition of the paper was not very different compared with the CMAT February 2012. Questions like critical reasoning and analytical reasoning came in large numbers and were slightly tricky. Unlike CAT, students did not have to struggle with time management. Most of the candidates were able to complete the test in two-and-a-half hours and had enough time to try unanswered questions."

Let us have a look at the section-wise analysis of the exam as shared by Career Launcher.

Quantitative technique & data interpretation

The section had 25 questions and the difficulty level was easy to moderate. The questions were from number system, BODMAS/simplification, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration, coordinate geometry, modern math and data interpretation & data sufficiency. While the first slot had very few questions on DI, the next slot saw a majority of questions from algebra.

Logical reasoning

The difficulty level of the logical reasoning section was moderate to difficult. Some of the questions were long and tricky. The topics were analytical reasoning, blood relation, number/letter series, coding-decoding, visual reasoning, deductive logic, cause-effect, course of action, logical consistency, linear arrangement, circular arrangement, visual reasoning, calendars and verbal reasoning.

Questions on critical & analytical reasoning dominated the section and were slightly tricky.

Language comprehension

The language comprehension section was of easy to moderate difficulty level. Questions were asked from topics like grammar, vocabulary, para completion, reading comprehension, summary, FIJ, critical reasoning and para jumble.

General awareness

The general awareness section was a mix of static GK and current affairs. It was easy for those who are aware of current affairs. The questions were asked on economy, business awareness, sports, awards, art & culture, books & authors and miscellaneous.

Talking about the experience of taking CMAT, Anuj Asthana, an aspirant from Lucknow, said, "The exam was pretty easy. The difficulty level was nowhere near to CAT. Some of the questions were erroneous. They were incomplete and did not have the right option and had several spelling mistakes as well."

Ravi Teja, another CMAT taker from Hyderabad, mentioned, "The quantitative ability section was very easy. I attempted 20 questions out of 25. The LR section had long questions and I found the general awareness section quite tricky."

Career Launcher said apart from erroneous or incomplete questions, some of the test centers faced incidents of technical snags and server errors.

CMAT September 2012 exam was taken by around

60,000 candidates. The next CMAT exam will be held in February 2013.
