SIIB dual degree option for students
Symbiosis Institute of International Business has collaborated with leading educational institutes to further facilitate the learning of their students.
(prHWY.com) October 23, 2012 - Pune, India -- Way back in 2006, Naresh Poonia, an SIIB alumni sidetracked a sprawling career in management to volunteer his services for Aakansha, an NGO in the neighborhood that worked for slum children. Inspired by their efforts to serve the society, Naresh initiated Prayatna, a registered nonprofit organization run by students of several Symbiosis colleges including Symbiosis Institute of International Business. Prayatna has gradually grown to become one of the most active arms under the social initiatives undertaken by SIIB. Born with a vision to facilitate education amongst the weaker sections of the society, Prayatna continues its good work for the society with many of its operations being looked after by the SIIB students. Through the various initiatives undertaken by Prayatna, SIIB students get an opportunity to contribute their bit towards creating a happier society. Developing a responsible attitude towards the society is an integral part of the curriculum at the institute.

Prayatna was taken up by SIIB with a vision to inculcate amongst their students the need for globally competent yet socially sustainable management policies. Being actively involved in the initiatives undertaken by Prayatna SIIB's postgraduate programs that offer specialization in International Business, Agribusiness and Energy & Environment are aimed at helping students develop global competencies with a responsible attitude towards the society. In fact, the institute regularly promotes several social initiatives where students get an opportunity to volunteer and do their bit for the betterment of the community. In line with this tradition, SIIB's social initiative Prayatna hosted the Joyfest-2012 on 14th October, for the underprivileged children at the SIC auditorium in Pune.

The participants of Joyfest-2012 included children from Sneh foundation, a prominent NGO working for the welfare of the child community along with kids from Kshitij, yet another in-house social initiative by SIIB students and Prayatna as well. The program began with an inaugural speech by Naresh Poonia, former SIIB pass out and founder of Prayatna, accompanied by Swati Bohra, co-founder of Sneh foundation. The inaugural session was followed by a dance performance of SIIB students along with the children from Kshitij.

In fact, the students from different programs at SIIB came together to execute a song and dance performance to entertain the children and participants alike. As part of the celebration, Joyfest-2012 also saw the students from SIIB indulge in live spray painting at the venue that held the audience spellbound through its superior level of creativity. All in all it was an entertaining day for the kids and adults alike. The spontaneity and active participation of children was clearly visible as they enjoyed every minute of the Joyfest-2012. Post lunch, the participants indulged in a fun filled session of games that included bursting balloons, dancing, sticking bindis, etc.
