Kaanapali Beach Emphasized in Recent Article Released by Royal Lahaina
Lahaina Town offers a historic and tourist-friendly experience.
(prHWY.com) December 8, 2012 - Lahaina, HI -- Maui, HI ( prhwy ) December 8, 2012 - Royal Lahaina, Maui's leading resort, recently released an article discussing Hawaii's famous Kaanapali Beach, which has been voted in the past as America's best beach. The beach, like other treasured destinations in the area, once served as a retreat for Hawaiian royalty, but now acts as a haven for tourists.

This resort was actually the first planned resort in Hawaii. In addition to Royal Lahaina hotel and resort, there are four other hotels and six condominium villages present in the area. The beach wastes no time in providing tourists with entertainment, as Whalers Village, the island's leading shopping center, gives tourists the opportunity to purchase a variety of items unique to the island. Also present in the area is the historic whaling museum, and many Hawaiian cultural activities, which are free of charge. For those who enjoy more mainstream types of recreation, the area offers golf courses, which also allow avid golfers to view whales.

Much like the rest of the island, this area offers many opportunities for excitement. Every night at around sunset, a cliff diver lights a number of torches spanning the edge of Black Rock cliff and then dives off in honor of King Kahekili, one of Hawaii's most respected leaders from the past.

Not too far south of Kaanapali Beach lies the historic port town of Lahaina, which served as the capital of the Hawaiian kingdom prior to its annexation by the US. In addition to the unique shopping experience, a number of art galleries and waterfront restaurants are available in the town for tourists to peruse.

The US Seamen's Hospital and Hale Paaho (Lahaina Prison) can all be found in the area. In fact, the author of Moby Dick, Herman Melville, traveled by ship to the ports in the area during the busy whaling days of the mid-1800s.

Regardless of what tourists are looking to do, they can find something to enjoy in the Kaanapali Beach area. Individuals choosing to stay in the area are recommended to stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort at 800-222-5642.
