Late deliveries from China manufacturers are deadly serious to the Fashion Importer and can result in missing the peak-selling season or in having orders cancelled from their own clients.
(prHWY.com) December 9, 2012 - Kernersville, NC -- Late deliveries from China manufacturers are deadly serious to the
Fashion Importer and can result in missing the peak-selling season or in having orders cancelled from their own clients. To avoid this, it's crucial that Designer-Importers allocate as much time as actually required for the manufacturing process, provide clear specifications and insure prompt funds transfers to assure timely product delivery.
As Christmas approaches, Chinese fashion manufacturers are bracing for the last big production orders of 2012 from around the world to produce 2013 Spring Fashion Collections, but Fashion Importers must act quickly to avoid late delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the footwear manufacturing industry in particular, Winnie Peng, Senior Project Manager of China Product Sourcing and Marketing Ltd., leading provider of designer footwear (
www.Shoe-Manufacturer.com) cautions fashion designers, importers and wholesalers to get their orders in to their China manufacturers immediately to avoid possible late arrival of their Spring Collections.
Delivery of Spring Collections Hinges on Chinese National Holidays
According to Ms Peng, "Chinese New Year next falls on 10 February 2013, meaning that most factories will need to finish up orders and shut down operations from early February. Subsequently, this puts a huge burden on the shipping system as cargo backs up in the ports so, to be safe, it's best to plan for your production to be completed by around January 20th.
"Considering that eight to twelve weeks is typically needed for producing prototypes, having them approved, arranging funds transfers and final manufacturing, this is already the critical time for getting Spring Collection orders in to your manufacturer."
Clear Specifications and Timely Fund Transfers Critical
To make these deadlines, Ms Peng advises that Designer/Importers be completely clear about their design points prior to ordering as there's no time for going "back and forth" with modifications as if the design isn't clear, the project wouldn't be completed until March.
She also advises that the Importer send needed funds well in advance to allow time for the banking system to process funds as during the busy season, banks may take up to 10 days from the time the TT order is processed at the Importer's bank before it is credited to the Manufacturer's account.
Buyers Themselves are the Main Cause for Late Product Delivery
More often than not, when there is a late delivery, the Buyer/Importer ends up unfairly blaming the manufacturer or shipper for late deliveries when, in fact, it was the Buyer/Importer's responsibility to begin the order process early enough to make necessary design changes and send funds when needed to avoid delivery date problems, and this is especially true during this holiday season.
