(prHWY.com) December 18, 2012 - Taiwan, Taiwan -- It's not a matter of finding a John 5 Tele, it's a matter of narrowing your search down to the perfect model that fits best into your budget.
Guitarists John William Lowery was given the Biblical-sounding nickname John 5 in 1998 when he joined metal group Marilyn Manson as their lead guitarist.
He has also played with k.d. lange and David Lee Roth, among other big names.
More importantly, he's gone on stage with some amazingly interesting, heavily-modified guitars in his playing career, and some of them have been captured in versions released to the public.
Today, he has an endorsement deal with Fender and plays guitar for Rob Zombie.
And that endorsement deal must be raking in lots of dollars for the musician if the number of models inspired by his instruments is any gauge of his money-making appeal.
For a little less than $1,200 online, you can have an authentic Fender J5 Telecaster, complete with an Enforcer humbucker at the bridge position and a Custom Shop Twisted Tele neck pickup.
Each pickup has its own volume control, and there's a three-way selector switch so you can choose between them.
It also features a three-over/three-under tuner array.
An unusual headstock and chrome pickguard complete the distinctive look.
If that's a bit out of your price range, the Squier J5 Telecaster might be a better choice for you.
Squier is a Fender company, but lower quality components make for a lower price.
Like the Fender model, you get the distinctive black-and-chrome look, but the pickups and features are less elaborate.
But those two models don't complete the Fender John 5 Telecaster offerings.
The Fender J5 Triple Telecaster Deluxe is based on 1970s Tele design and has a Strat-style headstock.
If you're a Bigsby fan, the Fender J5 Bigsby Telecaster includes the Bigsby vibrator tailpiece system and a Seymour Duncan Pickup at the bridge.
Fender also makes a J5 Acoustic model for those who want something completely different.
John William Lowery is a prolific American electric guitar player who likes to modify his instruments and change things up on stage from time to time.
If you want to follow in his footsteps, you could do much worse than a Fender John 5 Tele model.
With several choices that span across all price ranges and preferences, players who like John 5 are likely to like something Fender offers with his name on it.
