(prHWY.com) December 18, 2012 - Seattle, WA -- Most former students at the Sally Mae High School for Girls don't look forward to attending their class reunion, but a new themed class reunion may have former students flocking to attend this event. The Sally Mae High School for Girls has decided to hold class reunions for the next five years on an ancient Viking ship.

"We thought that our class reunions really needed a facelift", said alumni director, Arianna Green. "We noticed that the number of students returning was declining every year. So, we decided to plan a different type of class reunion. That was where the idea for the reunion on a Viking warship came about."

A Viking warship might sound like an odd place to hold a class reunion, but there are a lot of events and activities that can be held at such a place. The events for the evening pan out almost like a traditional class reunion, but with several differences.

"We are planning on having several really fun activities at this class reunion", said Green. "One of my favorite planned activities will be the sword fighting on the decks of the ship. We hired a local sword fighting group that will teach reunion attendees how to sword fight. It will be really cool."

Other events aren't as rough and tumble as the sword fighting. The alumni group has hired several local actors to walk around the ship and act like the Vikings of old. This is done to give the ship a feeling that it really is an old Viking warship.

"I think the local actors will really add to the atmosphere of the ship", said Green. "We will have some that are nice and peaceful, and some that are loud and boisterous. It will really be like the old Viking ships."

The announcement of this new style of class reunion has gone over extremely well with the former students. Once the invitations were sent out the responses started pouring in.

"We normally have about a 10% return rate on the invitations within the first two months, but we got over 50% back with this new class reunion", said Green.

Many of the students aren't excited to see their former classmates, but instead are looking forward to touring this ancient Viking warship.

"I don't know where else you'll be able to say you sailed on a Viking warship", said Terri Young, a former student at the school. "That's why I responded. I normally don't do high school reunions, but this seems really fun."
